Dear Local Business Owner,

We are thrilled to announce the kickoff of our 3rd Annual Caring 4 Cario fundraising campaign on October 1! This year, in response to student and teacher requests, we are raising funds to install sunshades in the recess yards—creating a more comfortable environment for outdoor activities. We hope your business will join us in making this project a reality.

Our plan is to install three sunshades:

• Two will cover the picnic table areas, giving students a cool place to gather.
• A third will shade the walkways, keeping students comfortable as they move to and from the playground.

We’ve already initiated the process with CCSD and have obtained pricing from approved vendors:

• $16,500 for a 25' x 25' shade (installed)
• $26,000 for a 30' x 30' shade (installed)
• $15,000 for a 10' x 15' walkway shade

Recess is an important part of the school day, and research shows it has significant benefits. According to the CDC, recess enhances social and emotional well-being while also improving memory, focus, and attention. By providing shaded areas, we can help ensure students stay cool, comfortable, and ready to learn.

The PTSO is committed to making recess as enjoyable as possible. Thanks to past community support, we’ve already transformed the playground by:

• Installing a turf field last year
• Adding new seating, volleyball and pickleball courts, and three murals the year before
• Continuing to maintain the space with recess balls, soccer nets, and other equipment

To make this year's sunshade project a success, we need partners like you. Contributions from local businesses are essential to reaching our goal, and we would be proud to publicly recognize your support in our communications and at school events.
